Course Reflection

Course Reflection

I feel really proud of my growth in this class. One of the benefits of a blended Cohort is being able to burn the midnight oil when life gets crazy.  The 55 days of this class have been intense for me both personally and professionally.

This class began just four weeks into my first full time co-teaching experience.  I love working with Mrs. Mateo and our combined class of bilingual and general education 5th-grade students.  Every day we experience new challenges and exciting positive outcomes.

The class also started with my mom in the hospital having her gallbladder removed.  This is a pretty routine surgery.  She had a stent placed in a constricted bile duct.  Later cancer cells were found.  My mother and I are very optimistic.  Humor, faith, and love guide our every move.  We are preparing for major surgery sometime after Thanksgiving but, before Christmas.  My mom is doing very well now.  She even visited our classroom last week.

Technology has allowed me to stay connected regardless of my location.  I have also been able to unplug and have face to face opportunities with my professional learning community and cohort colleagues.

My Singleton colleagues have provided support, feedback, and reflective conversations.  This class is the perfect example of 21st Century learning benefits with technology tools and innovative unplugged partnerships.

It has been 55-days since the beginning of this class.  I am inspired and better equipped to empower learners.  Let’s see where the next steps take me.

  1. Veronica,
It is as always a pleasure working with you. Being able to work with you as learners has been so beneficial to me. Thank you for always helping and supporting me through my confusion. I am sad I missed the opportunity to meet your mother. Maybe next time!

  2. Collaboration is essential to learning for teachers and students. The best part of being a 21st Century teacher is being a 21st-Century learner and creator.

  3. Thank you, Veronica, for the confidence. District 86 has more exposure to the Google family products than my school. I had asked why we didn't use Google Classroom. I was told it was because the students, each had to have their own id. And they didn't want to do that.
Your mom will be in my prayers. Take care. Terry
